Tudor North Flag

The Tudor North Flag was released at Baselworld 2015 with other Colored Rolex Watches for men and we had five years to appreciate its charm. So what do you do when you introduce a new Tudors North flag at the end of the year, just a few months after the release of your previous flag? 

The North Flag is powered by the in-house mt5621, which Tudor describes as part of an important industrial strategy aimed at giving the brand greater independence. The Rolex mt5621 movement has a power reserve of 70 hours, which is equivalent to the pre-caliber mt5521, but far less than one would expect in the north. However, it was the Tudor northern flag that led the introduction of the new house movement, and one could say that the fall of the northern flag in the mid to late 1990s and early 2000s set the tone for the rest of the Tudors clocks. The 1970s - inspired design typical of the Tudor North Flag - were not implemented in blue, but in a more modern blue with a red and white background. For more information, read our sky dealer Rolex article.

Fortunately, the Northern Flag is not a replica of a vintage watch, but has a thoroughly modern timepiece that is very much in line with the current Tudor watch line. As I said above, as we will learn later, Tudor's design of the North Flag is directly linked to the 1970s Tudor Ranger II, and the design was inspired by him. Indeed, the Tudor North Flag has become a symbol of the brand's expertise in watchmaking, and even the North Flag label perfectly describes the concept of a watch predestined for modern adventure. One last note: The new Tudor North Flag watch comes with an integrated steel strap, but costs more than a leather strap. It is manufactured with Tudors Certified Sport used cars and is suitable for use with the brand's certified, used Sport and Sport Plus models as well as the company's premium sport models. 

The Tudor North Flag (reference 91210N) costs $1,000 more than the original Tudors Reference 911N and $2,500 less than its predecessor, The 913N. A leather strap also costs a little more, but not nearly as much as the old Tudor North flag. 

The TUDOR North Flag is available with a solid satin-finished steel strap integrated into its case, but the case should be used as a strap for the watch, not as a case when it is not fastened to the wrist. The North Flag is available in two colours, black and white, and a black leather strap with gold trim. One of the delights of the Tudor NorthFlag is that, apart from the fact that it has a semi-open caseback, it looks like a real watch if you don't shoe it on your wrist. 

The North Flag features two high-contrast power reserve hands, one in black and one in white, and a black and white bezel with a gold edge. 

Tudor has really managed to inject a certain personality into the power reserve and PR complication that sits at nine o'clock with personality by choosing not to upholster for the standard design but to create something unique in the North Flag. The North Flag (ref 91210N) offers a unique opportunity to combine Tudor watchmaking heritage with modern technology. 

The Tudor North Flag is partly inspired by the nostalgic Tudors Ranger II from the 1970s and brings back some of those good memories with a modern flair. It also has built-in approaches that make it feel completely unique and there's the distinctive shape of the 70s that you get with Rangers II. 

If Tudor wants to get rid of its poor man's Rolex image, this new flagship model of the North Flag is a step in the right direction. These features determine the way that the modern NorthFlag makes a watch, not only in terms of the design but also in terms of the look of the watch. 

I've had the opportunity to check a model of the North Flag before, but of course I didn't have the time to spend a few days with the watch, and I realized that I didn't really want to replace it with a more expensive and versatile steel watch.
